IP analysis

SpamExperts performs extensive analysis on the IP addresses of both the sender’s mail server and the actual sender of the message. This includes, but is not limited to, DNS blacklisting both publicly available and part of the SpamExperts global platform. Emails only get rejected if a combination of factors indicates a message is spam to ensure that a single wrong listing will not block any legitimate messages.

SMTP conversation verification

SpamExperts performs extensive analysis on the behavior of the sender’s mail server. Many spammers do not follow the official protocol for sending email, which allows us to block some spam at the initial stage of the email transfer progress. Moreover, by purposely causing very small delays in the email transfer (only for suspicious connections), the costs for the spammers (some simply give up waiting) increase, thereby reducing the amount of spam sent.

DNS based blacklisting

SpamExperts uses advanced DNS blacklisting to help identify spam. Both public and private databases are used. You do not have to be afraid an email will get blocked if an IP is on just one list. Only with a high score in combination with our other filters results in rejection of the message.

Statistical based filtering

Based on information collected from hundreds of thousands of free SpamExperts Desktop Limited users, SpamExperts maintains large databases with information about spam and not spam email. Using advanced algorithms, incoming emails are statistically compared to these databases generating a likeliness of spam or not spam.

Spam fingerprint detection

Based on information collected from hundreds of thousands of free SpamExperts Desktop Limited users, SpamExperts maintains large databases with fingerprints from known spam messages. Using advanced fuzzy algorithms incoming emails are compared to these databases to block messages that are already known to be spam.

OCR analysis

SpamExperts applies advanced Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technologies to be able to properly classify hidden messages in non-text based spam.

Image, PDF, and Office conversions

Spammers often try to avoid the filters by adding attachments such as Images, Word/Excel documents or PDF files. SpamExperts converts these files to an analyzable format using, for example, Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology to ensure all types of spam are being blocked.

Combined spam scoring

To ensure that good email will not get blocked SpamExperts uses an advanced scoring algorithm combining the different test scores of the analyses performed. This way you can be ensured that only the spam is blocked from arriving at your inbox and no ham, or not-spam, messages are blocked.

Virus scanning

SpamExperts uses up-to-date virus scanning to stop viruses from entering your inbox.

Anti phishing

SpamExperts uses up-to-date phishing scanning to stop phishing attempts from entering your inbox.

Anti spyware

Automatic whitelisting

SpamExperts uses an advanced system of automatic whitelisting of trusted users to ensure optimal delivery speed of the not spam emails to your inbox.

Manual whitelisting

SpamExperts allows for manual whitelisting of a recipient email address to bypass all filters.

Advanced synchronized greylisting

SpamExperts applies advanced synchronized greylisting temporarily delaying untrustworthy connections and immediately accepting trustworthy connections. All servers always have the latest data to ensure optimal delivery speed of the not spam emails to your inbox.

Tarpitting

Using so called tarpitting connections from untrusted sources are delayed in their communication to increase the costs of sending spam and to ensure only legitimate behaving mail servers can deliver email to your domain.
