SpamExperts Goes Beyond Classical Social Responsibility

Giving children a fighting chance

How did it all start?

SpamExperts believes that we all have to be socially responsible and get involved whenever we can to help our fellow men and women, be them young or old. This time around, our teams dedicated their efforts and resources to bring a small contribution to two children’s hospitals from Romania and the Netherlands.

Unfortunately there are situations in the state owned children's hospitals where outdated medical equipment paired with poor conditions make a gruesome experience that can scar young’uns for life.

Each of our team members searched online for children’s hospitals in need of donations and found two where we felt that our contributions were necessary.

In the Netherlands, we contacted the VUmc Kinderstad in Amsterdam, a foundation devoted to improving child care in hospitals, and in Romania we got ahold of doctors from the Sf. Maria Children’s Hospital in Iasi.

We wanted to bring our contribution to help some sick children feel and get better.

How did we help?

After discussing with the VUmc Kinderstad over the phone, they sent us a list of options of what we can donate or do for them. In Romania, the doctors we contacted told us that they are in need of medical equipment and supplies and sent us a list with the most necessary items.

For VUmc Kinderstad, we purchased a lot of toys and a few PlayStation 4 games, offering the sick children an escape from the constant bore of being in a hospital; additionally, we were happy to organize some workshops where children learned how to make bracelets and all kinds of gifts to share with family and loved ones. Our team has also volunteered for a cleaning session.

The Sf. Maria Children’s Hospital was in need of medical equipment for their pediatric surgery department and we were able to help by purchasing supplies for laparoscopic surgical procedures. For the little patients, we bought a few toys so their day won’t be filled with just staring at walls, waiting for their next intervention.

Laurentiu Teodorescu, part of the team who made this project happen, is one of our Quality Assurance Specialists, and had this to say - “Children are the most important part of our lives, and sometimes they have health struggles. It’s everyone’s responsibility to help and give them the opportunity to fight. Like you and me, every child has a chance to change the world, in one way or another, so why not help them help us?”

“Getting to help Sf. Maria Children’s Hospital in the city of Iasi in the manner that we did was an absolute joy. Just the thought that we could contribute to give these children a chance to a better life, makes me happy,” says Catalin Donici, SpamExperts Quality Assurance Coordinator.

Andreea Popa, Business Development Manager for SpamExperts concluded that -”Taking part in this project made me feel proud that I am part of this company where everybody seems to be driven by the same ideal as I am. To quote one of my favorite authors, Charles de Lint - I don't want to live in the kind of world where we don't look out for each other. Not just the people that are close to us, but anybody who needs a helping hand. I can’t change the way anybody else thinks, or what they choose to do, but I can do my bit”.
